What it does
A new verse appears each time someone calls you, even on the lock screen, on a worship theme you choose.
With Premium, Mom, Dad or your pastor each get their own verse and theme. Try it free on one person’s next 3 calls.
After a call, if you want, pray for them in 30 seconds or send them the verse that came with their call.
Keep a prayer list with reminders, and mark the prayers God answered.
Read it, search it, save the verses you love and listen to it read aloud. Follow a reading plan, and get a verse each day at the time you choose.
Public-domain Bibles only, quoted exactly: the KJV, the BSB, the WEB, the Douay-Rheims, Reina-Valera 1909 and more.
Pray the Rosary bead by bead, with the mysteries of the day, and let the Angelus remind you to pray.
In English, the Douay-Rheims becomes your Bible. Choose Catholic mode when you start, or any time in the app’s settings.
A look inside
How it works
Verse Caller first asks to be your phone app (Full mode), where your phone allows it: its verse screen on every call, a calm screen with the verse while you talk, and its own keypad, favorites and recent calls. On Android 8, 9 and 10, this is how verses come.
Your number, your contacts and your call history stay the same, and you can switch back any time.
On Android 11 and newer, you can keep your Phone app and make Verse Caller your caller ID & spam app (Lite mode). It shows the verse while a call rings, and your Phone app does the rest.
On every call, unknown numbers show their country and local time, and you can block any number from the ringing screen. Switch back any time in More → Settings → Calls → Which app handles calls.
Private by design
There is no account and no sign-up. Here is what stays on your phone, and what leaves it.
Your contacts and calls, your prayers and your faith. Which verse came with which call never leaves your phone, not even in a backup.
A request for the app’s settings (Google Firebase); app usage and crash reports, linked to a random app ID (only once you allow them, and never your faith); purchases (Google Play and RevenueCat); Bible and theme downloads (which Bible, never what you read); for people without Premium, ads that are never personalized (Google AdMob); and Android’s own backup, if your phone backs up, which copies your prayers, saved verses, plans, the people you chose and your settings to your Google account, not to us.
In More → Settings → Privacy & data: turn app usage and crash reports on or off, change your ad privacy choices, or delete everything.
Questions
Android lets an app show its own screen when your phone rings only if it is your phone app, or your caller ID & spam app. Verse Caller asks to be your phone app first, where your phone allows it. On Android 11 and newer, you can keep your Phone app and make Verse Caller your caller ID & spam app instead. Either way, you can switch back any time.
No. Your number, your contacts and your call history stay the same, and switching never moves your calls or contacts. Verse Caller never records calls and never reads your messages.
In Verse Caller, open More → Settings → Calls → Which app handles calls. Or, in Android, open Settings → Apps → Default apps and choose another app under Phone app or Caller ID & spam app.
Public-domain translations only, quoted word for word: the King James Version (not offered in the UK), the Berean Standard Bible, the World English Bible, the Douay-Rheims, Reina-Valera 1909, Almeida, Ang Biblia and more. Modern translations such as the NIV and the ESV need licences; the Berean Standard Bible is a modern English Bible that is free for everyone.
In Google Play, any time before it ends: open the Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Bible Verse Call Screen → Cancel subscription (Verse Caller’s name in Google Play). We remind you two days before it ends, unless you turn that reminder off. Uninstalling the app doesn’t cancel a subscription.
Verses appear on regular phone calls. WhatsApp, Messenger and other internet calls use their own call screens.
No account and no sign-up. Premium belongs to your Google account, so Restore purchases brings it back on a new phone.
